The Junior School moved into the new purpose built school on Cumbre del Sol in Autumn 2009. The building has 30 large air-conditioned classrooms four of which have Interactive White Boards which are utilized by all members of staff.
The Early Learning Years, which are Pre-Nursery years 1 and 2 and Foundation years 1 and 2 have an area specifically designed for the youngest members. Each room has a bathroom adjacent, and the large doors open onto an enclosed patio with soft fall flooring where all the outside play equipment is kept.
The Physical Motor Skills room is full of play equipment designed to enhance and develop motor skills of young children. The specialised equipment allows them to experiment with different movements and actions and to learn the limitations and capabilities of their bodies in a safe controlled environment.
Outdoor play areas in the Junior School are large and separated into areas for specific age groups. Each area has play equipment and shaded areas with tables and chairs. There is also a grassed area and other areas with artificial grass.
The Library provides an opportunity for pupils to choose from a selection of over 5000 books, both non-fiction and fiction, in both Spanish and English. There are also a large number of board games and puzzles for them to enjoy.
All the children enjoy their ICT lessons in the purpose built facility, which contains state of the art computers with large flat screen monitors and fast internet access. They also have access to a wide range of computer software including word processing, multimedia presentations, drawing software, databases and spreadsheets, as well as a wealth of information and web pages available in a safe and secure environment.
There is a heated indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium and sports court which are used on a daily basis for PE and also after school Plus Clubs. All pupils have the opportunity to swim throughout the school year and are given quality instruction from an early age. There are changing rooms in the pool complex and also adjacent to the gymnasium.
The Dining Room is spacious, bright and cheery and there is a daily dining service available.
As an international school language teaching is prioritised. From the age of 2 all children are immersed in a bilingual environment, stimulating early acquisition of Spanish and English. Spanish language and culture is taught throughout the school alongside the English Curriculum, with other languages being introduced from the age of 11. Children of all nationalities are welcomed whatever their level of English. Whilst the majority achieves fluency in English very quickly, additional language support is provided where necessary.
Academic studies are complemented by a wide range of activities both in school and the local community. School music, drama and sports programs are enhanced with opportunities to become involved in the orchestra, choir, drama, performing arts and sports clubs. Private tuition in piano, flute, drums and guitar is offered. Lessons are conducted in the music room, which is equipped with keyboards and many other instruments. Two separate rooms are dedicated to private music lessons.

Xabia International College (XIC)
XIC was founded in 1994 to provide a quality education based on the English National Curriculum within an international environment. The school comprises Foundation, Primary and Secondary Departments, offering continuity of education from Nursery to University. A commitment to small class sizes enables provision of personal and individual education for every child. The school believes in working closely with parents in the best interests of all the children, including liaising with the Parents and Teachers’ Association ‘The Friends of XIC’ (FoXIC).
Presently there are approximately 250 students made up of children from some twenty nationalities. The school is fully authorised to admit students of all nationalities and to validate their studies in line with the Spanish Education system, up to and including Sixth Form.
